Why do I need a hybrid system?
In the past a standard gas or oil furnace provided the heat for your home, and an air conditioner provided cooling. Typically one or the other was turned on - both highly inefficient.
A gas furnace typically would cycle on at a high temperature, and then shut off. In very cold temperatures this was necessary; however in milder temperatures it cycled more frequently, and became very inefficient.
The heat pump offered a much more efficient method of heating; however it was only effective in mild temperatures. It would not provide the heat necessary in colder climates. The heat pump did however have the advantage of being a highly efficient air conditioner, and works well for cooling. And with the recent increase in efficiency of air conditioners and heat pumps from 10 to 13 SEER (Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio), a Hybrid Heat system could save you money during the cooling season.
A Hybrid HeatTM System provides the best control over your monthly energy bills by automatically selecting the most economical method of heating. As conditions change, the system automatically switches between the two sources to maintain greater efficiency than with a single-source heating system.

Dear Arronco,
In late June, Arronco installed a dual fuel heat pump at my home. Mr. Tim Schulte was the installer.
It was a rainy, muddy day. Mr. Schulte took great care to lay down cardboard strips between the driveway and the work site. He also put down drop cloth throughout the interior work area of the house. Then he cleaned his shoes each and every time before entering the house.
Mr. Schulte was both personable and professional in his work efforts. I probably asked too many questions, but he answered them in every day terms I could understand. The installation was a positive experience.
